I'm moving!

Hi friends,
I'm officially moving to http://hollywynn.blogspot.com  When I first began this blog many many years ago all my blog friends were on xanga as well, so they were easy to follow.  But alas, all my blog friends are not in other blog worlds & I'm realizing it might be easier to stay friends via blogspot.  So if you still come here to read my blog, go to the above address, bookmark it & read me there!  :)  Grab a cup of coffee & we can be blog friends!  :)

I went to Atlanta for work last week and on the way home go to go to Memphis to stay with one of my college roommates, Bethany!  We had a blast shopping, watching movies, eating, cooking & it snowed like 10 inches!

Here we are on the balcony of her apartment about an hour into the snow that lasted about 12 hours.

Since we were stuck inside & couldn't go get a cupcake we decided to make them!  But we didn't have any eggs.  I found a website that said you could substitute part water, part baking powder & part oil as a substitute.  See the picture below & you tell me if you think it even remotely resembles the same outcome.

Here we are with one that actually had some structure to it.  The rest were liquified.

Here's Bethany scrapping the snow off her car before church.  Her boyfriend ended up coming to get us since Memphis doesn't snow plow their streets & it was still very icy!

And here's us on the way to the airport.  We had such a good time & I wish we lived closer together!

And here's a picture of a bridesmaid's dress from David's bridal for Andrea.  :)

Something Exciting.

My office/house is situated one block from a high school.  Everyday kids park their cars along the street.   The last couple of days though some one/a group of kids have been writing incredibly vulgar and obscene things with shoe polish on car windows.  I mean really vulgar things.

So today we decided to call the police and find out if this is a ticketable offense.  The first person I talked to at the police station said that unless it was causing monetary loss or disturbing the peace, that no it was not ticketable.  I said, "would busting in their window be?"  He said yes.

Then we called again & just said we were calling to report some public obscenities.  We gave our address and were told a police car was on its way over.  A Midland city policeman arrived as well as a school district police car.  They looked at the offending car, took it's license plate number down, opened it up (it was unlocked), took out a book and made a phone call.

After a few more minutes the city policeman left but the school one stayed until the owner of the car and (what I'm assuming was) a vice principal arrived and the kid had to wash his windows.

Now, I was hoping the kid would be fined or his car towed because then he would get mad at the ones who did the offensive writing and hopefully it would stop, but in the end I'm happy that something was done.

It feels good to get the bad guys sometimes.

January 2009--A President, a Birthday & an Engagement!

January has been a big month!  And actually all the big events happened in the same week!  It started on Inauguration Day--George W Bush left DC & came home to Midland!  There was a big welcome home celebration here!  My friend Dawn & I waiting in line for a little over an hour to be part of the 30,000 people crammed into little Centennial Plaza in downtown Midland, Texas!100_0231
I think we'd finally made it in at this point!  And we were really excited!

There were signs like this all throughout Midland!

So that event was on Tuesday...on Friday I flew to Corpus to celebrate my grandmother's 80th birthday!  My grandfather was giving her a surprise party & all the granddaughters were coming in to add to the party!

So that was a big time!  But the bigger event was about to happen!  My sister Bonnie was about to get the surprise of her life!  Her boyfriend was planning to propose that night!  We all knew it & were having to be very secretive!  He took her to go out to eat & as soon as they left we hauled out to the restaurant to meet them there.  He sidetracked to the beach where he had a bonfire waiting & asked her to marry him.  She said "hell yes!"  Then they came to the restaurant where our family & his were waiting to surprise her even more!

"This is the best Thanksgiving ever!"

"Well, actually it's Christmas, Dad."   :)

It was a very good Christmas (as was Thanksgiving last month)!  Lots of fun parties in Midland and then some in Corpus too!  I'm very very thankful for all the friends & family with which the Lord has blessed me!
